NHS : Division of Children's Services and Obstetrics
The Division is one of six Clinical Divisions in the newly merged acute hospitals Trust in Leeds. The division is led by the Divisional Director, Helen Scott-South. The division provides secondary and tertiary Paediatric, Obstetric and Reproductive Medicine Services, including those internationally renown. Services are currently provided on two hospital sites in Leeds, surrounding community settings and in satellite areas within the Northern and Yorkshire Region.
Children's Centre
This is a large Children's Centre offering excellent opportunities in many regional and supra regional specialties, alongside a busy secondary paediatric service for the city of Leeds. Specialist services for children include some of the following:
Intensive Care / Neonatal Surgery / Neurosurgery
To support these specialties and many others, we have a team of clinical nurse specialists who provide a first class local and regional Paediatric Outreach Service for children and their families, being cared for in their home and local community.
Obstetrics and Reproductive Medicine Services
Both aspects of these services are hospital and community focused. Satellite services are already provided for reproductive medicine, with similar proposals for obstetric services over the forthcoming year. liaison links for Midwifery Services with the five Primary Care Groups for the Leeds conurbation are already in place.
This is an exciting time for Obstetric and Reproductive Medicine Services in Leeds as we are currently planning a new model of service into the new century that will create the largest Obstetric Service in the country, and develop a Reproductive Medicine Service from international to world renown. There are already very close relationship links with the University of Leeds and other University Departments of Nursing and Midwifery which will be strengthened with the future proposed joint appointments in Midwifery and Paediatrics.
