A Visit to Leeds United's Training Ground

Last month we were lucky enough to have a tour around Leeds United training ground. Four lads were shown around and then given the chance to interview some of the players. Here's what happened.. When we got to the academy first we went inside and went downstairs onto an indoor pitch where the grass was artificial. It is where the youngsters train and play matches. We then went and looked at the 'wet area' where there was a pool what helps heal injuries; it was 6 foot deep in area and covers every part of the human anatomy, within reason. It does your hamstrings, neck and shoulders. It was brill. Then there was a huge swimming pool with a non slip floor so players don't injure themselves, and to improve their strength, they can set a current on the pool so it's like swimming in the sea or even stop the swimming. It was ace. Then we went up to the gym area where there were lots of equipment to increase your strength and stuff. After that we went and watched the players train which was great We interviewed Simon Walton, Ian Moore, Danny Pugh, and Shaun Derry. Here's what they had to say. What was your favourite team and who was your favourite player when you were younger? Simon Walton - Leeds and Rio Ferdinand. Ian Moore - Liverpool and Ian Rush. What was your best subject at school? Simon Walton - PE because I was useless at the others. Ian Moore - Same. Are you superstitious? Ian Moore - Yes, I put my left shin pad on before my right. Danny Pugh - I have the same meal before each game, scrambled egg and toast. What was it like to run out of the Elland Road tunnel for the first time? Simon Walton - Scary. Shaun Derry - Enjoyable. What is your favourite model of car at the moment? Simon Walton - Audi A3 Ian Moore - Mustang Shaun Derry - Michael Rickett's Aston Martin Vanquish. Who would you buy if you were a manager of a club and money was no object? Simon Walton - John Terry. Ian Moore - Ronaldo. Shaun Derry and Danny Pugh - Ronaldinho. Who was the best player you have played with? Simon Walton - Lucas Radebe. Ian Moore and Danny Pugh - Gazza. Shaun Derry - Robert Pazanaski (Portsmouth). What is the best Goal you have ever scored? Simon Walton - One against Cardiff last season. Danny Pugh - Crewe last season What do you think of the attendances at Elland Road? Shaun Derry - They will get better as we move up the league. We need to show the fans more improvement. Who is your room mate when you are travelling? Ian Moore -Danny Pugh. Simon Walton - I've had loads, recently Aaron Lennon but now Dan Harding.
