It was a mild October evening, Leeds Town Hall was buzzing with the imminent arrival of the UK’s greatest band; the Leeds based Kaiser Chiefs.
On entering the hall we heard the unmistakable sound of the Indie rockers, The Cribs, a Wakefield based trio. The three Jarman brothers were obviously pleased to be at home in Yorkshire, and part of ‘The Rock ‘n Roll Riot Tour’ along with all conquering Geordie five piece band Maximo Park. There great songs and freaky dancing was definitely a hit with the crowd.
As the support bands played through their sets the eagerly anticipated arrival of The Kaiser Chiefs grew along with the size of the crowd. An estimated 5,000 fans were expected over the 3 nights at the sell-out Town Hall gigs.
It was time for the introduction of Leeds’ Favourite sons and they didn’t disappoint. The lighting, stage and sound was amazing, the atmosphere was electric and the crowd particularly enjoyed the performance of “I Predict A Riot” as Ricky Wilson the lead singer jumped into the crowd and bodysurfed his way back to the stage whilst introducing the rest of the band.
The encore was even more spectacular still as the crowd chanted “Marching On Together” a song well-known at Elland Road the home of Leeds United, the Kaisers favourite football team. The lads final song “Oh My God” was a fitting finale to an awesome night were the band seemed to enjoy being there as much as the fans.
Thanks lads!
